Harrison Ford Autographs
Born 1942
Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Rick Deckard, Jack Ryan: one actor, several of the most collected roles in film, and a signature that is forged far more often than it is genuinely signed. What to buy and what to question.
Harrison Ford is collected role by role. A Han Solo collector, an Indiana Jones collector and a Blade Runner collector may all want his signature, but on different images, and each of those markets is deep enough to stand on its own. That breadth is a large part of why his signature is so sought after.
The other part is supply. Ford has never been a regular on the convention circuit, and genuine signatures are scarce relative to his fame. Where demand is enormous and supply is thin, forgery fills the gap, so the first job with any Ford piece is establishing that he signed it.

Which role, on which object
- In-character photographs
- The core of any Ford collection. The role on the image decides which collectors are competing for it.
- Posters
- Popular and heavily faked. Original release posters and reprints are different purchases.
- Cast-signed pieces
- Ford alongside the rest of a Star Wars or Indiana Jones cast. Rare when genuine, and the single most common fake.
- Prop replicas
- Hats, whips and blasters signed by Ford. The object proves nothing on its own; the provenance is the asset.
Why genuine Ford signatures are scarce
Most of the principal Star Wars cast have signed at conventions for decades. Ford has not, which is why the Star Wars page calls him the famously reluctant lead whose genuine signature is scarce in proportion to his fame. Early signatures from the years the films were made are scarcer still.
His signature has also changed over the decades, becoming quicker and more abbreviated, so a genuine example from one period can look quite different from another. That is one more reason a Ford piece should be judged against dated exemplars rather than a single picture found online.

Demand across generations
Few actors carry as many generations of fans. Star Wars and Indiana Jones buyers came in during the late seventies and eighties, and later films and series have kept adding more. In 2025 he joined the Marvel films as Thaddeus Ross, bringing a new audience to the name. See Marvel autographs.
What sets the price
- Authenticity you can prove
- With Ford, this outweighs every other factor combined.
- The role
- Han Solo and Indiana Jones images draw the deepest demand.
- Period
- An early signature is a different object from a recent one.
- Placement and condition
- A bold signature where it reads, on a clean image.
